Suspect arrested after stabbing in the Village

The victim, a 37-year-old man, was hospitalized with upper-body body injuries.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Montreal’s Village neighbourhood.

A 911 call around 4:05 p.m. on Friday indicated that a man had been attacked on the corner of Ontario and Beaudry streets. Officers found a 37-year-old man with upper body injuries from a sharp object. He was transported to a hospital and his life is no longer in danger, a Montreal police spokesperson said Saturday.

Preliminary information from witnesses indicates that there was an altercation between the victim and another man. During the course of the altercation, that man stabbed the 37-year-old.

The suspect rapidly fled the scene, but was arrested by police officers shortly thereafter. The 34-year-old man met with investigators on Friday night.
