Left to moulder for over a decade, rare Ford GT rescued from a garage

Ed Bolian, of Cannonball fame, is bent on restoring it to glory

  • Ed Bolian and his entourage have unearthed a forgotten Ford GT
  • While the supercar is incredibly moldy, it seems in good shape
  • Expect numerous YouTube videos to surface of its resuscitation

While the photos posted by Bolian and crew showing themselves dressed in head-to-toe protective gear might seem like theatre, anyone who has had to deal with mold in an enclosed space knows this is no joke of a job. The car itself looks to be in good physical shape with no damage to body panels or interior trappings — save for the mould, of course. One photo even shows the original keyfob (shared with a Focus LX of the era, how exotic) hanging from the ignition tumbler.

How did this supercar end up in such a sad shape? Moisture and humidity surely played a role, environmental characteristics likely exacerbated by local weather and the general state of the garage in which the car has been sitting. Your author once purchased a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria for use in a demolition derby and found its interior getting a good start on a new life as the main ingredient in penicillin, so we appreciate the challenge lying ahead of any detailing shop willing to work with Ed Bolian and his crew on this car.

One thing’s for sure — it’ll make for great viewing on YouTube. We will be watching the revival of this Ford GT with interest.
