The individual was known to police, the SQ says.
The Sûreté du Québec opened a homicide investigation on Thursday after the death of a man in his 40s in St-Calixte, 20 kilometres northeast of St-Jérôme in the Lanaudière region.
Emergency services were called around 5 a.m. to intervene with a seriously injured man, said SQ spokesperson Nicolas Scholtus.
The man’s body showed signs of violence and he was known to police, Scholtus said. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
SQ agents were deployed on the ground, including the forensic identification service, Scholtus added.
A perimeter was set up on Montée Pinet to conduct the investigation.
