A man has been rescued after spending three days stuck in a city’s sewer network.

The man, named as Antonio, entered the drainage system from a nearby river and decided to explore the tunnels, but found himself lost.

Unable to return to where he entered, he eventually saw a distant light shining through a manhole cover on an overhead street.

Local residents said they could hear faint shouts of a man in the area, but couldn’t determine where it was coming from.

He reportedly hollered for three days before a passing woman eventually heard his cries and was able to locate where he was.

She immediately informed the authorities and Antonio was safely lifted out of the sewer.
