Michelle Obama would defeat Donald Trump by 11 points, poll finds

One in three Democrats believed Biden should drop out of the race, according to the poll

Michelle Obama would easily defeat Donald Trump if she took Joe Biden’s place in the 2024 U.S Presidential election, according to a new poll.

One in three Democrats believed Biden should drop out of the race, according to the poll, which was taken after his debate with Trump June 27. Support for both candidates was even, at 40 percent.

Vice President Kamala Harris would lose to Trump 42-43, the poll found. California Governor Gavin Newsom, whose name has been circulated as a potential successor to Biden, lagged 39-42, while Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer polled 36 per cent to Trump’s 41.

The poll also found that three in five voters had a unfavourable opinion of both Biden (60 per cent) and Trump (56 per cent).

More registered voters, 55 per cent, had a favourable opinion of Michelle Obama.

Harris’ favourability largely tracked with Trump and Biden, with 40 per cent of registered voters saying they had a favourable view of her.

The online poll surveyed 1,070 adults across the country, including 892 registered voters.

Trump criticized Obama’s polling numbers at a campaign stop on Friday, in which he also said he doesn’t believe that Biden would drop out of the race because the President polls better than his replacements.

“They polled everybody. They polled Michelle Obama,” he said. “She polls very badly. No, she polls terribly,” he added.
