Why we love it: This summer, Canadian jewelry brand launched a collection made from “salmon gold”.

“It connects biodiversity and environment to our industry in a way that has not been done before,” explains Noura Sakkijha, Mejuri’s co-founder and CEO. “If left untreated, these abandoned mines pollute sensitive watersheds, ecosystems and native species.

“Regeneration is reversing the effects of past industrial demands, which altered the flow of rivers, disrupted natural habitats that were vital for the fish populations, and left unsecured tailings. Restoring mines is about creating a space where the habitat can once again support a flourishing ecosystem.”

While limited to a single style to start, Sakkijha says we can expect to see more salmon gold jewelry pieces in the future.

“The Salmon Gold Collection marks the beginning of a series of annual capsule collections in 14-karat gold, each featuring the Regeneration logo, signifying our commitment to sustainability and environmental restoration,” Sakkijha says. “As we have the opportunity to increase our Salmon Gold, the proportion of recycled content in our products may decrease over time; enabling us to achieve higher levels of traceability over time while also contributing to habitat restoration along the way.”

The price: From $268.
