REM service restored after ‘control system failure’ Thursday

REM operators said an emergency brake being activated first caused a slowdown across the network shortly before noon.

Service on the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) was shut down in both directions Thursday afternoon before being restored around 3:30 p.m.

In a post on social media, the REM operators said an emergency brake being activated first caused a slowdown across the network shortly before noon.

An hour later it said a “control system failure” had by then caused a shutdown across the network.

Commuters using the light-rail system were offered shuttle buses between the network’s stations until service resumed.
