Written and performed entirely by Idle, the show, according to a statement, will include never-before-seen sketches, original songs, jokes, “the humorous wisdom that comes with being a living legend, and exactly one fart joke.”
Monty Python fans will know the name of Idle’s new show is the title of the song he performs in the iconic Crucifixion scene at the end of the controversial (at the time) and much-loved 1979 film Monty Python’s Life of Brian. The film stars Pythoner Graham Chapman as Brian of Nazareth a simple bloke who is mistaken for the Messiah.

Best known as a founding member of the iconic British comedy troupe Monty Python, Idle has had a robust career since those early Python years. He has appeared in countless films, television, radio and theatre productions. He penned the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit musical Spamalot, and created the original parody rock band The Rutles. Idle is also the author of several books, including his most recent bestselling Always Look on the Bright Side of Life: A Sortabiography.
Idle’s latest book offering, The Spamalot Diaries chronicles the inside story of bringing Monty Python and the Holy Grail to Broadway in the musical Spamalot, will be released on Oct. 8.
