2025 Polestar 2 gets better range, new trim structure

For the coming model year, the all-electric sedan is rated at 505 km on a full charge; it starts at $54,950 in Canada

  • The Polestar 2 gets a host of battery improvements for 2025, hiking max range to 505 km
  • Bye-bye, “trims”—like the Polestar 3 and 4, the 2 now offers “Packs” of features
  • Canada and Europe get the 2025 2 first; pricing here will start at $54,950

Heading into the 2025 model year, the Polestar 2 is being gifted a raft of updates, chief amongst which is a boost in driving range for the Long Range Single Motor variant. Official estimates now peg total distance at an EPA-estimated 505 kilometres (313 miles) on a full pack of electrons, very nearly enough to traverse from Montreal to Toronto without stopping.

Instead of referring to different trims, Polestar references a number of “Pack Structures” when speaking about the equipment levels in its cars. Changes to the Polestar 2 for this year bring those Pack Structures in line with the newer Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.

A fresh Climate Pack, for example, includes a heat pump, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, and heating for the washer fluid nozzles; this should be considered required reading for any customer thanks to the range-extending properties of the heat pump, though Canucks might enjoy all those other heated surfaces as well.

A new Pro Pack includes 20-inch alloy wheels and Swedish Gold detailing applied to the seatbelt and tire valve caps; while the existing Pilot Pack, Plus Pack, and Performance Pack make up the remaining structure. Polestar says there will also be more colour options, including one called Vapour, described as a contemporary colour with a light metallic effect, inspired by modern city architecture. How fancy.

Inside its cabin, the Polestar 2 gains Charcoal Nappa leather upholstery from Bridge of Weir, which it defines as “animal welfare-secured”. Customers who choose the Pro Pack mentioned above will also receive a new seatbelt design, showing up as black with a Swedish Gold stripe running its entire length.

In Canada, the Polestar 2 will bear a starting price of $54,950, not including $2,650 destination fee. Since deliveries began four years ago, the model has found more than 160,000 owners in 27 different markets.
