A British man plummeted from a balcony in the Spanish island of Mallorca after reportedly taking heaps of ‘cocaine and ketamine’.

The 27-year-old was left with ‘serious injuries’ after falling from the first floor of the flat in the capital Palma.

Footage from the scene of the incident shows a pool of blood on the pavement on the side of the building where he fell.

The victim was rushed to hospital after paramedics stabilised him at the scene, a little after midnight.

He was shown on a stretcher before being wheeled into an ambulance and taken to the island’s Son Espases Hospital.

It was not immediately clear this morning if the man was holidaying at the flat or lived at the address.

Local reports said the patient told police, while on the way to the hospital, that he had consumed cocaine and ketamine.

Neighbours reported seeing him leaning out of a window at leasttwice before he plunged to the ground head-first.

Police in Mallorca are conducting an ongoing investigation into what happened.

A spokesperson for the force said: ‘This morning around 12.45am in the Palma neighbourhood of Sa Gerreria a foreign man aged 27 who was apparently in a state of nervousness fell from a first-floor balcony to the ground and suffered a serious head injury.

‘The emergency services arrived on the scene and transported the injured man to hospital.

‘The causes of the incident are still being investigated, although at this stage there appears to be no third-party violence.’
