A 20-year-old Beaumont man was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
Alberta police are reminding the public to slow down on provincial highways after a driver with a serious case of lead foot was caught going 189 km/h on Highway 21 near Fort Saskatchewan last weekend.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a Fort Saskatchewan RCMP officer came across a Mitsubishi Lancer driving at “extreme speeds” along Highway 21 and Township Road 542, northeast of Edmonton, police said in a Tuesday news release.
Using a radar device, the officer clocked the driver going 189 km/hr in a 100 km/hr posted speed limit zone, noting traffic was “heavy” at the time.
A 20-year-old Beaumont man was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
Fort Saskatchewan is about 36 km northeast of Edmonton.
