771-hp 2025 Continental GT now most powerful Bentley ever

The hybridized fourth-gen grand tourer marked its debut with an unofficial “underwater speed record” of 335 km/h

  • Bentley’s new fourth-gen Continental GT Speed is its most powerful road-legal car ever
  • The V8 hybrid car uses its 771 hp to achieve speeds of up to 208 mph (335 km/h)
  • The Continental GT and convertible GTC will start production in the second half of 2024

The car’s debut was made all the more exciting by Bentley pulling off an “unofficial underwater speed record” with the thing, which saw the 2025 Continental GT reach its 208-mph (335-km/h) top end driving the world’s longest sub-sea road tunnel, the Ryfylke Tunnel in Norway, with a tank full of renewable biofuel and a battery charged with renewable electrons.

That amount of grunt is apparently good for zero-to-60-mph (-96-km/h) times of 3.1 seconds; and a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). The transmission-mounted electric motor is fed by a 25.9-kWh battery that lives behind the rear axle and allows for a pure EV mode, or for electric boost, regenerative braking, and a charge mode, where the engine charges the battery while driving the wheels, too. The range driving on the battery alone is 50 miles (81 km).

Under the skin are a host of chassis improvements: to start, weight balance is now a near-perfect 49:51; handling is managed via 48-volt active anti-roll control; and overall performance is bettered via all-wheel steering and torque vectoring. Bentley counts as perhaps the chief highlight a new “dual-valve damper system and dual-chamber air springs” for better body control and a wider spread between soft and firm settings.

It’s hard to improve on Bentley interiors, but the 2025 Continental GT Speed’s cabin has been dressed up with “new air ionisation [and] three-dimensional leather textures.” Aesthetically, there’s also a new Dark Chrome Specification you can opt for to tone down the brightwork on the door handles and switches. Tech is updated as well, with Intelligent Park Assist being one of just several new pieces of software that make the Conti that much easier to enjoy.

The convertible GTC Speed grants you access to the open air via the retraction of a seven-bow fabric roof that folds completely down in 19 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph (48 km/h).
