Motorcyclist, 56, in serious condition after collision with vehicle in Montreal

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, did not suffer any injuries.

A motorcyclist is in serious condition following a collision that occurred Sunday in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.

Around 5 p.m., several calls were made to 911 to report a collision between a motorcyclist and a vehicle that had taken place at the corner of Papineau and Prieur Sts.

Montreal police quickly went to the scene. When they arrived, they found the driver of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old man, lying on the ground, unconscious. The police assisted him while waiting for the paramedics to arrive, who then transported him to hospital. Medical authorities fear for his life.

According to initial information, the motorcyclist was travelling on Prieur St. in an eastbound direction. He was allegedly struck at the intersection by a vehicle travelling southbound on Papineau St.

Investigators from the collision investigation unit and a collision scene reconstructionist will go to the scene to try to understand the causes and circumstances of the accident.

A perimeter was erected to protect the scene and police are asking citizens to avoid the area.
