Cyclist is in critical condition after hit by a car in St-Stanislas-de-Kostka

The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was not injured.

A cyclist is in critical condition following a collision with a car that took place Saturday afternoon in St-Stanislas-de-Kostka, in Montérégie.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reports the accident occurred around 2 p.m., on Route 236, near the main street of the municipality.

According to initial findings, the cyclist was travelling east on Route 236 and for some reason crossed the road. The driver of car did not have had time to avoid the collision with the cyclist, the SQ said.

The cyclist, a seriously injured 40-year-old man, was transported to hospital and his life is feared.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was not injured.

The road was closed to traffic while investigators could analyze the accident scene.
