The Big Apple will bake, but not broil, this week.
After five consecutive days of 90-plus temperatures, the heat wave will finally subside — slightly — Monday, forecasters said.
Sunday is “supposed to be around 92, and then on Monday, we’re back to the mid to low 80s,” FOX meteorologist Cody Braud told The Post.
“A heat wave consists of at least three consecutive days of a high temperature of at least 90 degrees,” Braud explainedm, adding that a 12-day furnace in 1953 holds the local record.
“We’re going to call this one a baby heat wave,” he said.
The coming week will still be hot.
“Even though the heat advisory doesn’t go into next week, our highs are going to go from the middle 90s to the middle and upper 80s. It’s still going to be pretty warm,” said Dax Clark, FOX weather producer.
There could also be thunderstorms on Sunday, which could cool things off in the city during the first official weekend of the summer season.
The beaches on Long Island could actually be cooler than Manhattan apartments — and subways.
“Not all of Long Island is in the heat advisory. For example, in Montauk, the high is only 75,” Clark said.
“But parts of the Jersey Shore are actually under excessive heat warnings.”
