Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr stint ‘is over’ as he hints at major upcoming move

Cristiano Ronaldo’s illustrious career looks to be taking yet another turn.

The 40-year-old wrapped up his third season with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) on Monday when he immediately took to social media for a cryptic, massive announcement.

“This chapter is over,” he wrote. “The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr contract is up in June and one would have expected the aging legend would be headed toward retirement.

Instead, his post on X seems to suggest that the only thing he’s moving on from is Al-Nassr and that he’s looking to sign with another club.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s best days may be behind him, but the legendary Portuguese forward showed that he still had a bit left in the tank in his three SPL seasons.

He scored 99 goals in 111 total matches with Al-Nassr across the SPL, Saudi King Cup, Saudi Super Cup, Arab Club Champions Cup and AFC Champions League.

Upon signing with Al-Nassr in December 2022 for around $200 million per year, it was Ronaldo’s fifth different club across his more-than-two-decade career and was what many thought to be his final destination — that was until his recent cryptic post.

Ronaldo’s 23-year (and now seemingly still counting) professional career dates back all the way to 2002 when the then-17-year-old took the field for Sporting CP in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.

By the next season, the wunderkind found himself in the English Premier League playing for the famed Manchester United for six seasons before taking his talents to Real Madrid in La Liga for nine seasons, Serie A’s Juventus for four and then heading back to Manchester United for two seasons before finally riding into 2025 with Al-Nassr.

It’s been reported that Ronaldo has plenty of options available to him, and particularly a Brazilian club has laid out a massive offer for the legend’s talents.

While he is legendary, many wonder what Ronaldo has left and whether he can still dazzle in a top league. We may be close to finding out.
