Fever vs. Sky prediction, odds: Target this Caitlin Clark prop for Saturday’s opener

Caitlin Clark is the WNBA’s biggest star and her phenomenon has reached a level we have never seen in women’s sports.

Yes, the league has other athletes who move the needle, particularly Angel Reese, but Clark is in a class by herself — and the talent has also arrived around her.

She dominated the final month of her rookie season to earn All-WNBA First Team honors and finish fourth in the MVP voting.

The Indiana Fever enter her second year among the championship favorites, as Indy opens the regular season Saturday as a 7.5-point home favorite over Reese and the Chicago Sky.

Indiana improved drastically this offseason and now starts four All-Stars from last year, as well as Natasha Howard (17.6 ppg last season).

The Fever also strengthened their bench by adding Sophie Cunningham and Brianna Turner.

I think Indiana wins and covers, but my favorite play is a prop involving Clark’s assists.

The Fever started out sluggish last year for a variety of reasons, but Clark and her teammates were able to recharge during the Olympic break to close with an 18-11 record and make the postseason.

I think that version of Clark is more indicative of what we see this year.

She posted double-digit assists in 12 of her final 22 games and now has a much better supporting cast. That means teammates won’t fumble passes that could lead to buckets and open shooters will knock down jumpers.

Clark will certainly score a good amount and hit some absurdly long 3-pointers, but she now plays on a legitimate contender.

She understands the importance of getting her teammates involved, especially the veterans.

I have a 42-36-1 ATS record in this Post section.

My next play is Clark Over 9.5 assists in the season opener.

BET: Caitlin Clark Over 9.5 assists (-110, BetMGM Sportsbook)
