Kristen Stewart skirts new Cannes Film Festival red carpet rules with skin-baring look

Kristen Stewart is toeing the line of the new Cannes Film Festival red carpet rules.

On Friday, the newly married actress attended the premiere of “The Chronology of Water,” which marks her directorial debut, layering a light pink sheer maxi skirt over a tweed short suit.

According to the festival’s new dress code, “nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival” — which, technically, Stewart, who wore a full Chanel look, didn’t break.

Because of the smart styling hack, courtesy of her stylist, Tara Swennen, she remained covered up — save for her midriff and below the mid-thigh area.

On top, the “Twilight” alum, 35, sported the matching boxy short-sleeve tweed blazer adorned with black and silver “CC” buttons.

A diamond choker necklace and pale pink pumps completed the designer ensemble.

Stewart matched her beauty to the outfit, debuting hot pink dip-dye hair with her platinum blond locks in a messy bun.

While it’s unclear if the “Twilight” alum meant to make a statement specifically about the rule change, she has openly protested the film festival’s previous ban on flat shoes — removing her high heels on the red carpet in a flashy 2018 stunt. They have since amended the dress code.

Though Stewart bent the new set of rules, others, including Heidi Klum, weren’t afraid to outright break them.

At the festival’s opening ceremony on Monday, the former “Project Runway” judge, 51, wore a larger-than-life Elie Saab floral gown with a long train — which is now frowned upon.

“Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted,” the official charter reads.

Then there was Halle Berry, who is serving as a judge on this year’s jury and decided to opt out of her initial red carpet outfit at the last minute.

“I had an amazing dress by [Gaurav] Gupta to wear tonight, and I cannot wear it because the train’s too big,” she explained at a press conference, according to Reuters. Instead, Berry sported a striped Jacquemus number with a pink ruffle detail on the back.

Stewart has been keeping a relatively low profile since tying the knot to screenwriter and film producer Dylan Meyer, 37, last month.

They said “I do” at an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles.

Stewart kept her cool-girl style on the big day, wearing a white T-shirt with a light gray printed jacket and matching miniskirt for the big day, while her new wife rocked a champagne-hued minidress underneath a see-through top.
