Not much went right for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024.
Mike McCarthy’s team never settled into a rhythm and finished the year 7-10. Particularly damning was a rough five-game losing streak that stretched from Oct. 13 through Nov. 18.
So, Jerry Jones shook things up.
First, he cut McCarthy loose after five seasons as head coach. Stepping into his place is untested offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
“I know that Shotty is no stranger to these guys [players],” Jones explained during Schottenheimer’s introductory news conference in January. “…this is as big a risk as you can take. As big a risk as you can take. No head-coaching experience.”
Schottenheimer inherits a talented roster including franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, recently re-signed defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, one of the NFL’s best returners KaVontae Turpin and offseason acquisitions George Pickens, Joe Milton III and Javonte Williams.
Now, all they have to do is win.
It won’t be an easy path for Dak and co., though. The team has tough home game challenges against the dangerous Green Bay Packers (Sept. 28), upstart Washington Commanders (Oct. 19), reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (Nov. 23) and a Thanksgiving showdown with the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs (Nov. 27) at Arlington, TX’s AT&T Stadium.

How to watch/stream Cowboys games
There is no shortage of ways to watch Cowboys games live from the comfort of your own home this season.
You can find head coach Schottenheimer’s stacked squad on ABC, CBS, ESPN, Fox, NBC and the NFL Network on select dates.
Through the regular season, most NFC games will be broadcast on Fox.
For specialty games, “Sunday Night Football” can be found on NBC along with Peacock, “Monday Night Football” is reserved for ESPN and “Thursday Night Football” streams on Amazon Prime Video.
