A notorious serial killer who once claimed to have 70 victims — and was even eyed in the brutal murders of OJ Simpson’s wife and her friend — is set to be executed in Florida on Thursday.
So-called “Casanova Killer” Glen Rogers, 62, is scheduled to be given a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke at 6 p.m. — nearly 30 years after he was convicted of killing mom-of-two Tina Marie Cribbs, 34, in a Tampa motel room.
The death row inmate, who also drew a separate death sentence in California for murdering another mother just weeks before the Sunshine State killing, has become infamous over the years after claiming to cops that he’d killed dozens of people.
Despite repeatedly being named as a suspect, he was ultimately never convicted in a spate of other murders around the country.
He eventually walked back his claim of killing roughly 70 victims.
Still, Rogers has been the subject of scores of documentaries over the years — including one from 2012 called “My Brother the Serial Killer” that featured his brother Clay and a criminal profiler who had corresponded extensively with Rogers.
That documentary raised speculation about whether Rogers could have been responsible for the 1994 stabbing deaths of OJ Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.
Los Angeles cops and prosecutors later said, though, that they didn’t believe Rogers had anything to do with the murders. Simpson was, of course, charged over the killings but was later acquitted following a high-profile trial.
“We know who killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. We have no reason to believe that Mr Rogers was involved,” the LAPD said in a statement at the time.
Rogers, who is originally from Hamilton, Ohio, has also been labeled the “Casanova Killer” or “Cross Country Killer” in various media reports over the decades.
Some of his alleged female victims boasted similar characteristics, including a petite frame, red hair and being in their 30s.
He is being put to death over the murder of Cribbs — the mother of two he was spotted leaving a bar with back in November 1995. She was found stabbed to death in a hotel bathroom two days later.
Soon after, Rogers was nabbed over the strangulation killing of Sandra Gallagher, a mother of three whom he had met at a bar in Van Nuys, California, just weeks earlier.
Rogers was arrested after a highway chase in Kentucky while driving Cribbs’ car in the wake of her death.
His lawyers have filed several appeals with state and federal courts to halt his execution.
The US Supreme Court denied Rogers’ final appeal on Wednesday.
If the execution goes ahead as planned, Rogers would be the fifth inmate put to death in Florida this year.
