Not long after the Giants selected Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll descended from the second floor of the team facility to discuss the fairly easy decision to go with Carter.
With Carter in the fold, they thought back to a year ago, when Malik Nabers was the first-round pick, and made a connection.
“We were talking on the way down just in terms of adding dawgs and a certain type of mentality,’’ Schoen said, “and I would say two years in a row with Malik’s competitiveness and the toughness that he plays with, and then you add another guy like that in the first round like Abdul Carter and the motor he plays with and the toughness and the violence, that can really help.
“That can help develop an identity, those types of players, and the more of those guys that you can acquire, the more that can come to life.’’
