Jalen Brunson hobbles to locker room before returning in Game 4 as Knicks get another injury scare

DETROIT — The Knicks received a major injury scare.

Jalen Brunson picked up an injury and went to the locker room during the third quarter of the Knicks’ Game 4 clash against the Pistons Sunday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena.

He returned to the game in the fourth quarter, though, and scored back-to-back layups while appearing to move fine.

After having the ball stolen from him by Dennis Schroder, Brunson stayed on the ground in pain and grabbed at his lower right leg.

The Knicks subsequently called timeout and Cam Payne entered the game for Brunson.

Brunson missed 15 games toward the end of the regular season with a sprained right ankle, the same area he was grabbing on Sunday.

It came as the Pistons turned the game on its head, outscoring the Knicks 28-14 in the third third quarter.

They also finished the first half on an 11-2 run, turning a 16-point Knicks lead into a seven-point lead to start the fourth quarter.
