Despite a last-minute change-up in the headlining event, UFC on ESPN Fight Night is back tonight with a welterweight bout between Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates.
The Fight Night in Kansas City, Missouri, was initially supposed to feature light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill and top-tier challenger Khalil Rountree Jr., but a lingering leg injury forced Hill to pull out and a change to the lineup was made.
Machado Garry (15-1-0) suffered the first loss of his career in his last fight and is hoping to bounce back tonight; that match last December was another where he entered as a late substitution.
Prates (21-6-0) is currently on an 11-match winning streak, with 10 of those wins decided by knockout. His last fight took place in November 2024.
