Shocking footage captured the moment two Florida cops narrowly missed being hit by a high-speed car that violently plowed into a police cruiser on the side of a busy highway.
The terrifying incident unfolded around 3 a.m. Sunday, as a Florida Highway Patrol trooper and a Volusia Sheriff’s deputy were investigating a deer strike on Interstate 95 in Volusia County, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
The startling footage showed the law enforcement pair walking along the roadway’s shoulder and then bolting to the grassy area seconds before the SUV rammed into the flashing patrol car and spun out across I-95, leaving debris strewn along the heavily-trafficked highway.
“Jesus Christ!” the sheriff’s deputy said after nearly escaping death, the footage showed.
“Holy f–k!”
The squad car also smashed into the back of the vehicle that was sidelined due to the deer, according to the video, which showed authorities calling for back up as semi-trucks barreled over the broken car parts.
“My life flashed before my damn eyes,” the deputy said after the collision.
“They were going full-speed man. If those rumble strips weren’t there, I would have been dead.”
The footage also showed the deputy approaching the male motorist inside the car that had hit the deer, which was dozens of yards by the force of the impact. The stunned man, was worried he had suffered whiplash.
It was not immediately clear if the female driver who collided into the police car was hurt or charged, but first responders said she was conscious immediately after the harrowing incident, according to the video.
The female driver, who had a cracked windshield, could be her whimpering in the body cam footage.
The trooper and deputy were not injured.
“PLEASE stay alert for emergency lights and move over for first responders, service vehicles and disabled vehicles on the side of the road,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
“This was a split second away from tragedy.”
