Igor Shesterkin and the Rangers are about to miss the playoffs for the first time in four years.

For the young core players on the team, this is not familiar. Alexis Lafrenière and K’Andre Miller haven’t been in this position since their rookie year.

Will Cuylle and Braden Schneider have never been in this position.

When it comes to Shesterkin, however, the 29-year-old netminder made his NHL debut a month shy of two years after the Rangers organization sent out The Letter announcing their rebuild plans.
