Twin brother of Austin Metcalf, fatally stabbed Texas high school football star, claims they never met suspect

The twin brother of the 17-year-old high school football star who was stabbed to death at a Texas track meet said the siblings didn’t know the murder suspect, who lashed out violently within moments of a mere seating dispute.

“I never met this kid in my life,” said Hunter Metcalf, adding he is still in shock over the killing of his twin brother, Austin.

“It really was under 30 seconds, this altercation,” the heartbroken brother told local WFAA.

Austin was allegedly stabbed by fellow 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony in the heat of a brief disagreement over seating.

The twins, from Frisco Memorial High School, allegedly found Anthony sitting at their post under the team tent during the track meet.

“We asked him to move. He started getting aggressive and talking reckless,” Hunter recalled.

The twins, from Frisco Memorial High School, allegedly found Anthony sitting at their post under the team tent during the track meet.

“We asked him to move. He started getting aggressive and talking reckless,” Hunter recalled.

“And my brother stepped in and said, ‘You need to move,’” Hunter added, “And he’s like, ‘Make me move.’”

“All of the sudden, he grabbed his backpack,” the brother said. And just seconds into the tussle, Hunter said Anthony pulled out a knife and stabbed his brother in the chest.

Austin, who was born two minutes before Hunter, died in his brother’s arms despite first responders’ attempts to resuscitate the teen.

The father of the twins, Jeff Metcalf, said he was utterly devastated by his son’s death, and couldn’t believe that a fight over the wrong seat claimed his life.

“I’m not trying to judge, but what kind of parents did this child have? What was he taught? He brought a knife to a track meet and he murdered my son by stabbing him in the heart. The guy was in the wrong place and they asked him to move and he bowed up [became angry and aggressive]. This is murder,” the grieving dad told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

The Frisco Memorial High School held a tribute for Austin on Thursday as friends and fellow students remembered him as a star linebacker who had garnered attention from schools as he dreamed of playing football in college.

He was recently voted his team’s Most Valuable Player and held a 4.0 GPA, according to a GoFundMe organized by his father, which has raised nearly $100,000 as of Thursday afternoon.

Anthony was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and is being held at Collin County Jail.

Frisco Police did not provide any further details to The Post regarding their investigation into the case.
