Giancarlo Stanton won’t blame injury on torpedo bat as he takes step toward Yankees return

Giancarlo Stanton is getting closer to a return from the tennis elbows he’s been dealing with since before spring training.

Stanton said Tuesday he’s hitting off some high velocity, but is not “close” to a minor league rehab assignment, which he added he’ll need because of his extended absence.

Whenever Stanton does return to the Yankees lineup, he’ll still be dealing with pain in the elbows.

He also declined to blame the use of the torpedo bat he experimented with last season.
