March Madness 2025 Sweet 16 begins with Alabama vs. BYU—How to watch free

After an exciting first weekend of March Madness games, we’re entering weekend two of the 2025 tournament with the Sweet 16 round.

The round’s opening matchup will see No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tied face off against the No. 6 BYU Cougars. Ahead of the tournament, BYU won 11 of their last 12 games, while Alabama had a less dominant pre-tournament run, losing five of their last nine.

After 13 seasons without an NCAA tournament win, BYU bested VCU and Wisconsin to earn a spot in the Sweet 16 in coach Kevin Young’s transformative first year with the team. Alabama first beat Robert Morris in the first round and advanced to the Sweet 16 with an 80-66 win over St. Mary’s (CA).
