St. John’s first Big East Tournament championship team in 25 years ended in the same painful manner as the previous one: With a second-round loss to a No. 10 seed.

Now, the mission is to build on this terrific, 31-win season after Saturday’s disappointing loss to Arkansas.

Next year’s team will clearly have a very different look, with Kadary Richmond, Aaron Scott and Deivon Smith out of eligibility.

Leading scorer RJ Luis Jr. could return, although he may choose to go pro, bypassing his final year of school.
