Amy Schumer lists Brooklyn townhouse featured in ‘Moonstruck’ for $14M — to move back to Manhattan

Amy Schumer, the comedian and actress known for “Trainwreck” and her stand-up specials, is looking to sell her Brooklyn Heights townhouse for $14 million as she prepares to relocate back to Manhattan.

The move comes after a two-year stint in the borough, driven by a desire to be closer to her son’s new school, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“He got into a good school and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day,” Schumer told the Journal, explaining the decision she made with her husband, chef Chris Fischer, to simplify their daily routine for their 5-year-old son, Gene.

The couple purchased the property for $12.25 million in 2022, according to public records.

Dating to approximately 1829, the classic Federal-style townhouse gained cinematic fame as the exterior of the Castorini family home in the 1987 film “Moonstruck,” featuring Cher and Nicholas Cage.

“We loved what we moved into,” said Schumer, a native New Yorker.

“But we’ve definitely made it our own.”

The couple enlisted landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, known for his work on Brooklyn Bridge Park, to redesign the backyard. They replaced a brick patio with turf and added a play structure and a swing.

“Not that it’s a ton” of space, she noted. “You know, it is Brooklyn.”

Spanning roughly 5,600 square feet, the home includes five bedrooms, four bedrooms, a gym and a wine cellar.

However, with Gene as their only child, Schumer found the space excessive.

“This is a home that is just ready for more people,” she said.

Despite the sale, she expressed mixed feelings about leaving: “This neighborhood has just been a dream to live here, and I feel very sad to leave.”

On Friday, the day the home listed for sale, Schumer, 43, posted of her decision to sell the home on her Instagram, stating it was the “best hood ever,” and cheekily telling her followers they probably wouldn’t be able to afford it: “14m sorry baby!” she said.

Schumer’s real estate portfolio has seen recent activity. In 2023, she sold an Upper West Side apartment for $13 million before settling in Brooklyn.
