Notre Dame responds to wake-up call by putting March Madness on notice

Notre Dame women’s basketball left nothing to doubt this weekend.

The Fighting Irish, led by sophomore Hannah Hidalgo, put on a defensive clinic, smothering the two unfortunate opponents pitted against them in the first and second rounds.

Third-seeded Notre Dame on Friday dismantled 14th-seeded Stephen F. Austin, beating the Ladyjacks by a whopping 52 points in the first round. Then, the Irish held sixth-seeded Michigan to a season-low 55 points in the second round in South Bend to advance to their fourth straight Sweet 16 on Sunday.

Notre Dame sent a message to the rest of the field with its back-to-back dominant beatdowns.
