Snow White’s Prince Charming had a big change after Rachel Zegler’s stalker remarks

No restraining order needed.

The prince character in the new “Snow White” is far different than the 1937 animated figure who Rachel Zegler called a stalker in her criticism of the original film.

Played by Andrew Burnap, Snow White’s love interest in Marc Webb’s movie is a man named Jonathan — and he’s far from a royal.

Jonathan is a poor, Robin Hood-like thief who meets Zegler’s Snow White in the woods, where he is the leader of a group that opposes the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot).

This version of the prince is not Snow’s rescuer or soulmate — just as Zegler, 23, wanted.

However, the pair do still share a true love’s first kiss in the film.

“Snow White” has experienced many controversies ahead of its release Friday, including Zegler’s viral comments about the original Disney flick.

At Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, Zegler compared the original prince character to a stalker.

“The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird,” she told “Extra.”

The actress said to Variety at the time that Snow White is “not going to be saved by the prince” in the remake. She also declared that the new film would be more “modern” than the “dated” animated movie.

But Zegler appeared to walk back her stalker comment about the prince in a recent interview with Allure.

“Snow White is on her own mission and she falls in love along the way, which is really awesome,” Zegler said. “That’s how life happens. You’re never looking for it, and then all of a sudden, it’s there. You can have it all. It’s all possible. Because you are everything you’ve been wishing and waiting for.”

Burnap, 34, said in 2023 that his character is not like the prince from the animated classic.

“I would say that Jonathan is less of a full-on prince and more of a reluctant hero. I guess that’s all I can say right now,” he told Man About Town at the time.

Burnap also said he got the role “the old-fashioned way” by auditioning and called being cast “a dream come true.”

“I get to play a whole new character which is so fun and working with Rachel and Gal was an absolute dream and Marc Webb, our director, is such a great guy and has such a clear vision for this beloved fairy tale,” said Burnap.

He added, “It’s a new story in the sense that it’s no longer a princess waiting to be saved by a prince, but a princess waiting to be saved by herself and finding her voice, her strength and her courage and actually, in the end, saving everyone around her. So I just had an absolute blast working on that.”

Burnap and the rest of the “Snow White” cast have been doing limited press after Disney decided to scale back the promotional tour for the film.

Instead of a usual media-packed red carpet event, Disney hosted a low-key premiere for the film in Los Angeles March 15 that Zegler and Gadot, 39, attended.

Burnap confirmed on X that he missed the premiere because he was in New York for his role in “Othello” on Broadway.

“All my love and thanks to those in LA and around the world who helped bring this to life – what a joy it was to make,” the actor wrote.
