Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow weighs in on Meghan Markle’s ‘attempt’ to be a lifestyle influencer: ‘ I don’t know her at all’

She wishes her well.

Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow has reacted to Meghan Markle’s pivot to her lifestyle brand.

“Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,” Paltrow, 52, said in her Vanity Fair April 2025 cover story, published Tuesday.

She was referring to Markle, 43,  launching her As Ever lifestyle brand, and coming out with her Netflix lifestyle show, “With Love, Meghan,” which is now streaming and has been renewed for a Season 2. The show was slammed by critics and called “an exercise in narcissism.”

Celebrity chef Jameson Stocks told The Post he got “death threats” after criticizing the show.

“The Talented Mr. Ripley” actress continued, “I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think there’s always more than enough to go around.”

Paltrow recalled her mom, actress Blythe Danner, 82, telling her, “Another woman is never your competition. … What is right for you will find you.”

Markle announced As Ever in February after trademark woes with her original lifestyle brand name, American Riviera Orchard.

“Last year, I had thought, ‘American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name.’ It’s my neighborhood… it’s a nickname for Santa Barbara, but it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area,” she wrote via Instagram. “As Ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do.”

“And I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can, so as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first.”

Markle previously shut down her lifestyle blog The Tig after striking up a romance with Prince Harry in 2017.

In September 2024, Markle’s application for American Riviera Orchard was reportedly rejected by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), who warned that businesses cannot trademark geographical locations.

The government agency also warned that Markle’s product descriptions could fit into multiple trademark categories.

At the time, Markle’s team considered the pushback “routine and expected” when filing for trademarks, The Post heard.

Rival lifestyle brand Harry & David later filed a protest against Markle’s lifestyle brand, claiming the name is far too similar to its Royal Riviera product line.

“The Royal Tennenbaums” star said that she has a “strong instinct to stand up for” as she does whenever there is “noise about certain women in the culture.”

Like the Sussexes, Paltrow also lives in Montecito, Calif. — but she doesn’t “know Meghan and [Prince] Harry” personally.

“I’m surprised, given how close they live. I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,” she clarified to VF. “Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”

Paltrow was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 48, from 2003 to 2016, and the exes share daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 18. Since 2018, she’s been married to producer Brad Falchuk, 54, a frequent collaborator with Ryan Murphy.

Paltrow became one of the most famous celebrities to establish a lifestyle brand when she launched Goop in 2008.

She told VF that it’s still going “strong” even though there have been recent layoffs.

“We’ve gotten bloated. We need to focus… Unfortunately, we had to do a reorg,” she told the outlet. “These are my people that I love, and the emotional pain that I went through is different than a lot of CEOs. A lot of people that I know are like, ‘Let’s just flip the switch. Who gives a s–t?’ But that’s not me.”

She added: “We are not doing this because the business is faltering. Case in point, we’re still here. We just had our best year.”
