“Are you crazy?” Michael Mihaly’s wife, Tesha, asked him.
The die-hard St. John’s fan had just told her he wanted to buy season tickets, the moment the news that Rick Pitino was going to take over at the Queens became official two years ago.
The Mihalys live in Queensbury, 20 minutes north of Saratoga Springs. A drive to the Garden is 420 miles round trip. It’s a three-and-a-half hour trip each way. But Mihaly, a 51-year old investment manager, was ready to dive all in on the Pitino era, now that their daughter, Lauren, was off to college.
He admitted to his wife’s initial question about his sanity that he may be crazy, then told her: “But we’ve been waiting a long time for this. He’s going to bring us back.”
