Maybe in five years, 15 years, it won’t be possible to write a story like this. Maybe in the next five years, 15 years, there will be many more trips to the Big East finals for St. John’s, which battled Creighton on Saturday night for the right to carry the league’s automatic bid into Selection Sunday.
And so it won’t feel as special those times as it does this time.
Before Saturday, the Johnnies had made five trips to the tournament finals, and all of them were memorable days and nights at Madison Square Garden.
