Rachel Zegler won’t let the trolls win.
The actress fired back at a social media critic who slammed her singing at a promotional event for Disney’s “Snow White” in Segovia, Spain, earlier this week ahead of the film’s release next Friday.
“Check out a sneak peek of Rachel Zegler performing ‘Waiting on a Wish’ in front of Alcázar de Segovia Castle in Spain, the same castle that inspired the 1937 animated film 🏰✨,” Disney captioned the Instagram clip, which was shared amid a string of controversies over Zegler and the live-action film.
The video received mixed comments, with one fan writing, “NO thanks. Disney [was it] so difficult to cast a soprano ???”
Zegler — who plays the lead role of Snow White in the upcoming movie — clapped back, writing, “i am a soprano! west side story is now streaming on disney+! ❤️🍎.”
The 23-year-old was referring to her impressive win at the 2021 Golden Globes, when she took home the best actress award for her portrayal of María in the hit musical film.
Despite some critics leaving harsh comments about Zegler under Disney’s latest “Snow White” post, the actress seems to be ignoring the haters.
She took to her own Instagram on Thursday to gush over the opportunity to sing in Spain in front of select influencers, fans and photographers.
“what an amazing couple of days! from performing ‘waiting on a wish’ in front of alcázar de segovia, to reuniting with our fearless director marc webb, and meeting all of the loveliest little princesses and knights, i am overflowing with love (and paella),” she captioned her post, which included several pics and videos from her experience abroad.
Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen in the movie, was not present for the performance.
As Page Six previously reported, Disney has opted to scale back the press tour for “Snow White” as they face ongoing backlash for casting and editing decisions.
Notably, the movie’s Los Angeles premiere will look a bit different on Saturday, per Variety.
Instead of inviting media outlets to interview the cast on the red carpet, only select photographers and a house crew will be present on site at El Capitan Theatre.
The upcoming live-action version of the beloved Disney classic has faced backlash from the start.
After Disney hired Zegler in 2021, she subsequently criticized the original 1937 version.
“There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time,” Zegler told “Extra” in 2022.
Zegler continued facing scrutiny for her outspoken views against President Donald Trump and her active support for Palestine.
A movie insider later told Page Six that Zegler is “out of control,” alleging that Disney does “not know what to do” with her.
“She’s an outspoken 20-something, and Disney chiefs have called her directly and asked her to tone down her posts,” a source told us. “They’ve called her management, but she won’t listen.”
The insider further claimed, “It’s been this way the entire way through filming. But it’s the tying of her politics to ‘Snow White’ that is upsetting.”
Meanwhile, fans have been speculating on Zegler and Gadot’s relationship, since Gadot — a native of Israel — has vocalized her support for her home country and Jewish citizens.
