Keeping up with the bling.
Kim Kardashian claims that she paid for the majority of her $2 million engagement ring from Kris Humphries, but he still made her give it back during their contentious divorce.
During Thursday’s episode of the “Kardashians,” Kim took a trip down memory lane with sister Khloé Kardashian while wondering what her “next [engagement] ring shape will be.”
“Number one was a cushion cut, 14-carat. I still have it,” Kim said, referring to her marriage to Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004.
The Skims founder, 44, then recalled how she got her second engagement ring from Humphries, 40, with the help of famed jeweler Lorraine Schwartz –– who was also present during the conversation.
Kim reminisced on the emerald cut, 18-carat ring, but she revealed that she no longer owns the rock.
“I didn’t keep that,” Kim said. “I was pregnant with [daughter] North [West], still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce.”
Khloé quickly interjected to point out that Kim was the one who actually “bought” the ring in the first place.
“But I bought!” Kim claimed. “He contributed a fifth [of the price].”
Schwartz chimed in to say that sometimes it’s the “best” idea to get rid of old engagement rings, but Kim admitted that she “would’ve loved a collection.”
Kim received her third engagement ring from her ex-husband Kanye West when he proposed in October 2013.
She explained that she still has the 15-carat cushion cut ring and plans to pass it down to their eldest child, daughter North West.
While West later upgraded her with a second, 20-carat emerald-cut ring, during their marriage, the enormous bauble was stolen during her horrifying 2016 Paris robbery.
The SKKN founder rarely speaks about her 72-day marriage to Humphries in 2011, but she previously admitted that she felt pressure to marry him because it was being filmed for “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
“I thought, ‘OK, everyone, you know, we’re filming this for a TV show. If I leave, I’m going to be known as the runaway bride forever and it’s going to be a huge joke,’” Kim said during the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” reunion in June 2021.
Kim also owned up to handling the breakup the “wrong way,” because she “just didn’t know how to deal.”
“I was so nervous to break up with someone, I handled it totally the wrong way,” she said during the same reunion, “I fully broke up with him in the worst way.”
