‘Talented poet’ found naked, dead on NYC rooftop near Yankee Stadium

A 41-year-old woman was found dead on the rooftop of a Bronx building near Yankee Stadium Thursday night, cops and sources said. 

Jane Hunter was found naked, unconscious and unresponsive around 7:30 p.m. atop the apartment building on River Avenue near East 158th Street in Concourse, according to cops and her family. 

The woman had suffered body trauma that indicated an apparent fall, and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, according to authorities and sources.

“She might have been up there herself, or someone took her up there,” the woman’s mother, Margaret Hunter, told News 12.

The grieving mother told the network Jane had struggled with addiction and mental illness, and that the system failed her.

She, along with neighbors, also lamented inadequate security in the building. 

“She was a talented poet who was impossibly kind… But for the first time in decades, she may finally be at peace. Her name was Jane Hunter, and she was loved,” relatives said in a statement provided to News 12.

It remained unclear Friday whether criminality was suspected.

The city medical examiner’s office will make an official determination.
