Only mafia hits in the building.
The cast of “Only Murders in the Building,” including Martin Short and Selena Gomez, were spotted filming near a home used in the iconic 1972 Francis Ford Coppola movie, “The Godfather.”
The Emmy-winning Hulu show stars Short, 74, Gomez, 32, and Steve Martin, 79.
Martin wasn’t spotted filming by the residence. However, he was likely there, as he posted a photo of the cast and crew via his Instagram on Thursday.
The “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” actor captioned it, “Just got off the Staten Island Ferry, along with the sensational marine crew, Selena and Marty. A spectacular drone shot for OMITB!”
Now filming Season 5, “Only Murders in the Building” follows semi retired actor Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), struggling Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Short, and artist Mabel Mora (Gomez), an unlikely trio of neighbors with a shared interest in true crime.
Season 5 will center around solving the murder of Lester (Teddy Coluca), the doorman of the Arconia, their building. The fictional Arconia is a real historic landmark called The Belnord. The apartment building is located at 86th and Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The iconic Corleone home from “The Godfather,” meanwhile, is a Tudor. It’s located in the affluent Todt Hill neighborhood of Staten Island.
The Longfellow Ave. residence, which served as the home of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) was for sale in 2019 for $1.37 million.
Talking to The Post in 2019, Gianni Russo, who played Carlo Rizzi in the Oscar-winning movie, recalled his character getting garroted in the front seat of a car – right in front of that home.
“Francis [Ford Coppola] wanted me to go through the windshield of the car,” he told The Post.
“They tried to do the breakaway glass but it didn’t look like glass from [the ’50s]. So they used the old glass,” he added.
“My feet went through the glass and the backs of my calves and ankles were all cut up. That movie beat the hell out of me.”
Another nearby property – the Staten Island home at 110 Longfellow Ave. – was used as the home of Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) in the movie. In 2022, that home was available to rent on Airbnb.
The movie’s wedding scene was also filmed in that neighborhood.
Russo recalled how producers gave him $1,000 to procure a cake for that scene.
He went to a local bakery and asked “how they would like the notoriety of having a wedding cake in ‘The Godfather,’ and they could get a picture from the movie and hang it up in the store,” Russo said.
“[The baker] gave it to the movie for free and I kept the thousand for my trouble.”
But, Elaine and Peter Albert, who lived in the “Godfather” home since they purchased it for $195,000 in 1977, told The Post that the house “was peaceful.”
“The [school] bus came to the corner,” they explained. “It was nothing like the movie.”
In addition to “The Godfather” home, the series recently filmed on the former St. John University campus, Grymes Hill.
Hulu hasn’t announced a premiere date yet for “Only Murders in the Building” Season 5.
