Music producer turned makeup artist?
In a hilarious Instagram Reel posted Thursday, Benny Blanco tried applying fiancée Selena Gomez’s makeup — using exclusively Rare Beauty products, of course.
“Where do I start?” Blanco, 36, asked the beauty mogul, 32, who looked slightly worried at the start of the clip.
“What’s this called?” he then asked, holding up the True to Myself Pressed Finishing Powder.
After dropping the camera, Blanco regrouped, asking Gomez whether he should apply the products using his fingers.
“Well, there are brushes, but go ahead,” Gomez responded.
Applying the product on her nose with the brand’s Liquid Touch Concealer Brush, Blanco surprised himself with his skills, exclaiming, “Wait, that’s pretty good!” (And causing his fiancée to crack up.)
Next up, the songwriter dusted the formula on Gomez’s forehead using her Always An Optimist Powder Brush.
“That’s good, babe. Now I’m proud,” she said, complimenting his technique.
Blanco grabbed Rare’s new Soft Pinch Liquid Contour next, saying, “I’m going to put this stuff on you. What is this called?”
When the “Only Murders in the Building” star told him, he replied, “What am I contouring?”
Sweeping lines of the product on both of Gomez’s cheekbones using her Liquid Touch Foundation Brush, Blanco became frustrated.
“Why isn’t it doing anything? When you do it, it looks so good,” he said.
He had more luck with Rare’s Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil Stain — “It’s so smooth,” he mused — and Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight.
“OK, not bad where you put it,” Gomez said as her beau applied the latter.
That is, until he dotted the stuff on her chin. (“Why would you highlight … OK,” she said.)
After using the Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter to “highlight the jawline,” Blanco spritzed Always An Optimist 4-in-1 Prime & Set Mist on himself before moving on to Gomez.
Admiring his work, the record producer told his fiancée, “I think it looks pretty good. You look so hot.”
Judging by Gomez’s final facial expression, we’re not sure she agreed — but Blanco received plenty of support in the comments.
“you’re hired,” wrote the official Rare Beauty page, while the “Only Murders in the Building” account added, “He tried.”
“This has to be [a] trend!!! Hahahahahahahaha,” chimed in Gomez’s “Emilia Pérez” co-star Zoe Saldaña.
“i feel like i did pretty well,” wrote Blanco.
