The reigning WBA World Lightweight champion will defend his title against the current WBA super featherweight title holder tonight in Brooklyn.
Gervonta “Tank” Davis, undefeated with 30 wins (28 of which were by knockout), has held the belt since 2019, but last fought in June 2024, when he beat Frank Martin by knockout in eight rounds.
This fight is Lamont Roach’s first time fighting in the lightweight class. The 25-1-1 boxer has defended his title once before, and now he’ll move up a weight class. He’s entering today’s fight as the underdog, but the two boxers grew up fighting against each other in amateur circuits, so Davis is still a familiar opponent.
In addition to Davis vs. Roach, the undercard features seven fights, including one more title fight.
