Diane von Furstenberg suffered a bad fall that left her with a big black-and-blue mark on her left eye.
“Upon arrival in LA, I fell on the pavement and hit my forehead !” the 78-year-old fashion designer captioned via Instagram Tuesday a series of selfies that showcased the shiner.
Von Furstenberg appeared make-up free in the images with a serious expression on her face.
“Does not look good for sure but grateful nothing more serious !!!” she added in her caption.
“I am owning it, applying lots of arnica gel and happy it was not worse !! Owning it is the secret of survival !”
The style icon did not divulge further details about her accident. Page Six has reached out to her rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
A source tells us, however, “She fell on the street in front of her daughter’s house and is fine. She is just very bruised. She is someone who posts daily and owning a fall is part of life.”
Several people sent von Furstenberg their well-wishes in the comments section of her post.
Tracee Ellis Ross wrote to her, “Oh Diane!!!! I’m so glad not worse. Love you!!!!”
Former British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful added, “Feel better Diane! So sorry ❤️.”
“You poor thing!” Jewel also chimed in before sharing, “I had a dog once jump up as I was going down to pet it- broke my orbital bone and gave me the worst black eye! But all you can do is own it! ❤️❤️🩹”
An individual who claimed to have worked for the DVF brand said he could “testify” to the designer’s “strength and resilience” and wished her a “speedy recovery.”
In May 2023, von Furstenberg spoke about that strength and how she has embraced getting older.
“Even though I am 76, I have piled up so much that I certainly could not feel any younger,” she said on the “Wiser Than Me” podcast at the time. “I am who I am.”
Von Furstenberg added of her swimsuit mirror selfies during the interview, “I have a tendency to think that, at least in my case, when I look at myself in the mirror, I find my strength there.”
