Jennifer Morrison thinks ‘Once Upon a Time’ deserves a reboot — with 1 big condition

Jennifer Morrison wants a new chapter in the story of “Once Upon a Time.”

The actress, 45, exclusively told The Post that she believes the ABC series about fairytale characters brought to life deserves a reboot — but with a different cast and characters.

“I think that they should reboot it, probably with new people,” Morrison said. “Eddy [Edward] Kitsis and Adam Horowitz were showrunners and creators of that. They had such a brilliant concept of this idea of the crossover of all the fairytale characters and the curse and all these things. And I think that they are filled with endless stories that fill in that kind of vibe”

“Once Upon a Time” aired for six seasons on ABC from 2012 to 2018, featuring an ensemble cast that included Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parilla, Josh Dallas, Jared S. Gilmore, Robert Carlyle, Colin O’Donoghue and Emilie de Ravin.

While the fantasy series was a huge hit at the time, Morrison doesn’t think there’s any more story to tell with the OG characters.

“I think that they took this cast as far as you could take it, in terms of kind of squeezing all the story out of that main cast,” she said.

“I would be in full support of seeing a reboot with a whole new group of people or a new group of fairytale characters who are in their own mess, in their own situation, with their own savior,” Morrison continued.

While Morrison isn’t interested in reprising her Emma role, she did confirm that she’d work on “OUAT” again in a different manner.

“Ifthey want me to come direct it, I’d be happy to,” she said. “It would be very cool.”

Morrison added: “I think there is definitely a place in the world for it, but I think it would just need to be a new group of characters.”

There’s no definitive plans for a “OUAT” reboot, but one of Morrison’s co-stars previously confirmed they’d return to the world of Storybrooke if asked.

“I am available,” Goodwin, who played Snow White, said at D23 in August 2024.

Goodwin and Dallas, who played Prince Charming, met on the set of the show and got married in 2014. They have two children together.

Dallas himself told People in 2023, “People come up to me all the time talking about ‘Once’ and saying they just started watching it and they’re loving it. It’s super humbling. It’s just nothing but gratitude to be part of a show that was such a big part of some people’s fabric of their lives.”

Since “OUAT” ended, Morrison has been hard at work directing episodes of shows like “Euphoria,” “One of Us Is Lying,” “Dr. Death,” “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” and “Tracker.”

Most recently, she directed two upcoming episodes of “Yellowjackets” Season 3, the thriller drama series starring Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci and Tawny Cypress.

Morrison told The Post that pivoting to directorial work has been “wonderful.”

“I realize now that looking back, I had two careers that were were blossoming at the same time,” she explained. “I don’t think that it’s something that you clock as you’re doing it. You’re just following your curiosities and you’re following your passions. And then you look back and it looks a certain way.”

Morrison said that being on the sets on “House” (where she played Dr. Allison Cameron from 2004 to 2012) and “OUAT” helped her learn about the filmmaking process.

“I had really accumulated not only a vast watching of what I loved and what I didn’t love, but also this sort of technical knowledge,” she shared with the Post. “And I was just so ready to figure out if I could take all of that and put it in action.”
