The NBA has never been better, so why can’t the league convince its harshest critics?

We now return to our regularly scheduled griping.

Even with one of the worst incarnations of NBA All-Star weekend behind us, the league resumes play tonight amid relentless criticism of its product, tied to the non-stop barrage of 3-pointers and dwindling stylistic originality among teams.

But which era do you pine to return to?

Is it the ’60s, when Bill Russell’s Celtics held a stranglehold on championships and offenses league-wide posted some of the worst shooting numbers since the shot clock was invented? Is it the ’70s, when the ABA kept many of the world’s best players apart, when drug use was rampant and tape-delayed playoff games became common?
