How Aubrey Plaza paid tribute to husband Jeff Baena during ‘SNL 50’ anniversary special

Aubrey Plaza paid tribute to husband Jeff Baena during “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special” by wearing a tie-dye shirt.

Aubrey Plaza made sure to keep Jeff Baena’s memory alive during her brief appearance on Sunday’s “Saturday Night Live 50: The Anniversary Special.”

While presenting musical guests Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard during the star-studded episode, the “White Lotus” alum wore a black pantsuit with a tie-dye shirt.

The funky design was a tribute to her late husband as the two had gotten married wearing tie-dye pajamas.

During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in December 2021, Plaza gushed about her impromptu wedding to Baena, who she had been dating for 11 years.

When host Drew Barrymore asked how she “dressed up” for their nuptials, she admitted that she was wearing a rosemary crown with tie-dye pajamas.

“Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine,” she said, referencing the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. “I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us.”

During the episode, she also gushed about working with Baena in projects like “Spin Me Around,” “The Little Hours” and “Life After Beth.”

Plaza’s Sunday appearance marked the first she’s been seen since Baena’s death by suicide on Jan. 3. He was 47.

At the time, the director was found unresponsive inside their Los Angeles-area home by an assistant.

A few days later, the “Parks and Recreation” alum addressed his passing with a public statement.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support,” Plaza said in a joint statement with Baena’s family. “Please respect our privacy during this time.”

Following his tragic death, the “Agatha All Along” star deactivated her Instagram account, which last featured a post about her husband.

In 2020, Plaza and Baena secretly tied the knot after dating for over a decade. They had no children together.
