Democrats protest for Department of Education: Letters to the Editor — Feb. 14, 2025

The Issue: Democrats stage demonstration protesting potential cuts to the Department of Education.

What a sad sight it was outside the Department of Education’s doors, where Democratic lawmakers gathered (“Now Trump sics DOGE on the DOE,” Feb. 12).

They’d heard that Elon Musk’s DOGE Team was there, and they tried (albeit unsuccessfully) to enter the building and disrupt progress.

These politicians claimed to be there for the sake of American schoolchildren. If only that were true. If it were, then where were they when national test scores came out, revealing that these children’s scores were way down in math and reading? Where was their vigor then?

It was hilarious watching House Democrats storm the Department of Education offices. What were they hoping to accomplish?

Their request for an emergency meeting was declined; they had no business being there.

Rep. Maxine Waters yelling, “Get out of the way,” and “we pay your job,” just shows her misguided rage. Where was her rage when the recent world report on literacy came out, and the United States was ranked behind other developed nations in math and reading skills? Yet we spend the most per pupil.
Maxine, go back to your district and use that rage for the betterment of your constituents’ children.

Last week, Rep. Waters yelled and screamed her usual invective at a Department of Education security agent, incessantly demanding to know his identity, among other nonsensical verbal attacks.

For those who may have forgotten, after Trump’s initial presidential victory, Waters was the one urging fellow Democrats to confront members of Trump’s Cabinet when they were spotted out in public.

Her actions have once again ignited passions and fueled hatred — now against both Trump and Musk, as well as anyone associated with the DOGE project.

The Democrats’ attempt to storm the Department of Education building was a disgusting display of hypocrisy.

The Democrats and their allies in the teachers unions, led by the utterly despicable Randi Weingarten, have betrayed the children of our country. We spend more money per student than any other country in the world, yet we rank at the bottom in academic proficiency.

Our children are our treasure. It’s time to treat them that way.

The Issue: Federal judges ordering pauses against a number of President Trump’s executive orders.

We must pass a new law that prohibits judges at lower levels, including appellate courts, from hindering the president and Congress with unreasonable mandates, especially when they display a consistent pattern of doing so (“Judge nixes pause on fed buyouts,” Feb. 13).

Everything Trump, Musk and other members of the administration are doing to help America, these judges are stopping. These are activist judges taking orders from the far-left.

Democrats shout like children over money being saved, but they’re only angry because the departments they care about are losing funding. Let’s take care of Americans first.

President Trump should sign an executive order that allows the Office of the President to ignore the members of the judiciary standing in the way of the president.

These judges didn’t win the election to become president of the United States — Trump did.
