He can’t choose between the City of Brotherly Love and actual brotherly love.
Jason Kelce admitted he is struggling to navigate his feelings about the Philadelphia Eagles’ blowout win against his brother, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2025 Super Bowl.
The retired Eagles center shared a lengthy X post early Tuesday discussing his admiration for both his former team and the Chiefs tight end.
“There were a lot of emotions last night, and now that I’ve collected my thoughts, I’ll attempt to share them in the longest tweet ever,” he began. “That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest.”
Jason, 37, confessed that he “knew” he was going to be dealing with “mixed emotions” throughout the game, which he compared to the 2023 Super Bowl when he and the Eagles faced off against — and lost to — Travis, 35, and the Chiefs.
“On one hand, I wanted what is best for my brother, and to see his success,” he wrote. “And on the other hand, there are so many people, teammates, and coaches, in the Philadelphia Eagles organization that I care deeply about, Many of whom I owe my own success to throughout my career.”
Jason expressed his “love” and “care” for his “New Heights” podcast co-host while also pointing out that Travis does not want his “pity.”
“It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity,” he wrote. “He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past.”
Jason, who retired from the NFL last year after 13 seasons, related to how the Chiefs are reliving their “shortcomings” during the devastating game, but he also reminded them that those feelings will “fade” with time.
“The greatness they have exhibited as a group will remain as one of the most dominant eras of football ever,” he said of the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 2023 and 2024.
The “Monday Night Countdown” analyst also took the opportunity to congratulate Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and coach Nick Sirianni.
“It is extremely difficult for a team in the NFL to have enough talent, coaching, fortune, and character to win a Super Bowl,” he wrote. “The character and swagger of this Eagles team was something truly special to behold. A true representation of the toughness and grit that makes Philadelphia what it is. Well done fellas, well f–king done.”
Jason summed up his message by expressing his “love” for the sport and his excitement for what’s to come.
He shared the lengthy statement after watching the Eagles defeat the Chiefs from his VIP suite with his wife, Kylie Kelce, parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, and Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday.
Travis, for his part, only briefly addressed the 22-40 loss in the locker room after the game.
“We haven’t played that bad all year,” he told reporters late Sunday night. “You don’t lose like that without everything going bad.”
The tight end explained that he and the Chiefs “were always gonna fight” to win, but they “just couldn’t find that spark” or “momentum.”
Swift, 35, has also stayed tight-lipped about her boyfriend’s upsetting game, but a source told Page Six that she is “comforting” him while acknowledging how “hard” he “worked all season.”
“Taylor knows Travis took this loss very hard, but she couldn’t be more proud of him regardless of the outcome,” the insider told us Monday.
The source explained how the Grammy winner and the three-time Super Bowl champion are now “looking forward to enjoying some downtime.”
“They knew that Taylor’s Eras Tour would be wrapping in December and football season would be coming to an end now, so they had planned for this time to focus on some alone time to just be together,” the insider told us.
“Taylor and Travis are going to take some time away to vacation with just the two of them, talk about their future and just relax.”
