Michael Strahan unintentionally added a little salt into the wounds of Giants fans – and they let him know about it.
Many Big Blue faithful were left outraged as one of their franchise icons waved an Eagles flag and said “Fly Eagles, Fly” during an interview with Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley during the “NFL on Fox” Super Bowl 2025 pregame show on Sunday.
“But he is such a special man, c’mon, we’ll got ‘Fly Eagles, Fly’ for Saquon Barkley because I respect and love this man so much,” Strahan said as he waved the flag on a riverboat in New Orleans.
The responses to the video on social media were not kind
“Gross,” X user @ejprinting wrote.
“Even franchise legends are clowning the Giants,” @matthew_j_focht wrote on X. “They better dig deep and find some pride ASAP.”
Giants fans already having to suffer through watching their former star Barkley lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl no doubt made Strahan’s decision sting more.
“Michael Strahan you went too far,” @xNoScop3x wrote on X.
Added @realcinch: “Really hope the entire Giants organization just watched Michael Strahan waving an Eagles flag in front of a global audience. That’s a HUMONGOUS middle finger to the Giants organization. We are officially at rock bottom”
Even WFAN host Lori Rubinson couldn’t help but chime in.

“Good lord, what the heck is this?” Rubinson wrote. “I am not watching the Fox pregame. Been watching NFL Network. But Michael Strahan, come on now. What is this?”
This isn’t the first time Stahan has garnered criticism for something he did on air.
People were left outraged that Strahan did not have his hand over his heart for the national anthem during a broadcast at the Naval Base San Diego in November.
Strahan later said he was not protesting anything but was “caught in the moment”
“The only statement that should be made that I want to make is I love the military, I’ve always loved the military and I will always love the military,” Strahan said at the time. “I do so many programs to help veterans and soldiers. I grew up on a military base with a father who was a major in the army. My brother, my sister, my cousins, they all served in the military — I’m a military brat.”
It’s been a rough season for Giants fans, who watched general manager Joe Schoen let Barkley walk to free agency last offseason, only to see him have an MVP-caliber season with their rival.
Barkley ran for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns in his first season in Philly.
He did so while the Giants celebrated their 100th season with a hard-to-watch 3-14 finish and just one win at MetLife Stadium.
Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll will be back to try to get things right as the Giants hold the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
