Once again, Kiké Hernández is back with the Dodgers.
The utility player signed a one-year deal to return to Los Angeles, where he helped the team to a World Series win over the Yankees last year.
The 33-year-old announced the reunion himself with a post on X Sunday saying, “Walking through the open door,” accompanied by video of Dodgers highlights.
The agreement was later confirmed by The Athletic, pending a physical.
Financial terms of the Hernández’s contract have yet to be disclosed.
Hernández played in 126 games for the Dodgers in the regular season and had an OPS of just .654, but in 14 playoff games, he had an OPS of .808.
Hernández garnered interest from multiple teams this off season because of his defensive versatility, having experience playing nearly every position during his 11-year career.
The Yankees have had interest in Hernández in the past, but he’s spent most of his career in Los Angeles and Boston.
Hernández has won a pair of World Series titles with the Dodgers, spending time in both the infield and outfield.
Earlier in the offseason, Hernández told “The Shop” podcast the “main priority for me would probably be coming back [to Los Angeles]. I think this team, the Dodgers, are very well positioned to make another run and be the first back to back team since the New York Yankees in [1999] and 2000.”
