A small plane crashed near Northeast Philadelphia Airport on Friday, causing a massive explosion that lit up the night sky and set multiple homes ablaze, according to reports and video.
The plane reportedly went down in the area of the Roosevelt mall near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard just after 6 p.m., WPVI reported.
The aircraft, which was carrying two passengers, caused a large, fiery explosion that set multiple homes on fire, CBS reported.
Multiple casualties have been reported.
Video footage captured heavy smoke in the area with debris sprawled in the parking lot of the mall as local police and fire responded to the scene, according to footage captured by Fox29.
Other footage captured a large fireball erupting after the plane nose-dived, according to video posted by BNO News.
It remains unclear what led to the crash.
The latest crash comes just days after a horrific midair collision in Washington, DC took the lives of 67 people.
